How to become a board member
Do you want to have a say in what we do? Do you like planning events and making
decisions? Do you think you can make our organization bigger and better? Are
you a doer not a talker? Then become a board member. As a board member you
would be donating your time to make CIMA a success by helping the board and
other volunteers. What does a board member do?
-
Board members have the responsibility of donating their time to make CIMA a
success.
-
Board members help the board and volunteer groups execute plans and strategies
for our events and undertakings.
-
Board members are required to attend monthly meetings and contribute time and
effort to further the success of our organization.
It all starts with becoming a committee member. Committee members support the
board in various areas.
Events – From our educational lunchBYTES to our exciting Cubs
rooftop parties, events are what CIMA is all about. You would have a say in
planning all of our many and exciting events. Make our existing events better
and help come up with new ones.
Sponsorship – Admission fees only cover part of our event
costs. The rest comes from sponsorships. For example, our first annual holiday
party (which raised money for charity) cost about $30,000. Help keep our events
affordable for our members by recruiting sponsors to keep things running.
Membership – People make CIMA the special organization that it
is! You’ll help expand and grow our great organization by bringing in its most
important resource: members!
Marketing – Yeah, we know what a wonderful organization this
is. Great members. Fun events. Educational events that are fun. We need to get
the word out. That’s were you come in.
Communications – The E-mails and monthly newsletter that lets
us know what’s going on doesn’t come from the E-mail Fairy (don’t we wish). It
comes from a volunteer.
Web – There likewise isn’t a Web Master Fairy. This website
that keeps us abreast of events, industry news and jobs in our field comes from
our dedicated volunteers. Here is your chance to be creative. Any committee
member who has been serving for at least a year is eligible for elections to a
board seat. These positions, like everything we do are strictly volunteer.

Warm fuzzy feeling that comes from knowing you’re making a difference
To become a committee member, first you need to volunteer. You will have a
chance to contribute to the CIMA organization and see how the group operates.
You’ll be exposed to many of the functions and roles people play within the
organization. If you like it, stick around.
Board member elections happen once a year. If you contribute consistently
throughout the year and have an interest in becoming a full time board member,
you can work with the current board members to take the next step! To become a
volunteer, you can contact CIMA directly at:
